HiTech Teacher Training Project

HT3P logoProject Goal

The overall goal of the HiTech Teacher Training Project (HT3P) was to provide K-14 faculty with quality professional development opportunities, including ongoing support in the application of technology in the classroom. New models of ongoing professional development featuring mentoring, peer observation and coaching were developed in response to teacher needs.

The HT3P has ended, however, partner districts continue to sustain ongoing professional development through district initiatives and by building capacity within buildings.

The project provided funding in three primary areas:

  • Vendor-based training/certification in topics such as:
Microsoft Office, essentials of networking, Front Page, Publisher, PageMaker, Photoshop, Web development/HTML, JAVA, Visual Basic, A+ certification.
  • Improvement of student learning through the utilization of technology in the classroom such as: redesigning existing content area curriculum to include appropriate technology, creating Web-based class materials, integrating Web resources into the curriculum, using multimedia in the classroom, assessment and technology, distance education. Professional development opportunities such as: designing and implementing mentoring programs, collaborative learning teams, and developing "train-the-trainer" type programs for teachers.
