Computer Science Collaboration Project
The Computer Science Collaboration Project uses the most successful elements of the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) to create collaboration centers that connect the various alliances and K-12 outreach organizations that are part of the Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) community. This project specifically focuses on outreach to and collaboration with persons with disabilities, African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and women.

The Computer Science Collaboration Project is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Broadening Participation in Computing – Leveraging, Scaling, or Adapting (LSA) Projects. The project aims to efficiently increase the participation of underrepresented groups in computer science education opportunities and activities by effectively building collaborations between K-12 education, community-based organizations, higher education and industry. Project activities include in-person and online collaboration opportunities, mini-grants as an incentive for collaborative projects, and dissemination of exemplary practices via a Web Site, webinars, and in professional development events.
The Specific Goals of CSCP are to:
- Build collaborations between CSCP Project participants from K-12 settings, community-based organizations, higher education, and industry to increase participation and engagement of underrepresented youth in computer science opportunities and activities.
- Maximize access to shared resources among representatives from K-12 settings, community-based organizations, higher education, and industry that are interested in expanding and broadening participation in computer science.
- Strengthen the capacity of existing and evolving K-12 formal and informal programs in computer science by supporting the use of exemplary practices.
The Program Directory lists organizations and programs committed to increasing participation in computer science. The purpose of the Directory is to help existing organizations, programs and individuals connect, share resources and collaborate on computer science-related projects for youth with disabilities and Hispanic/Latino(a) youth.
CSCP Mini-Grants are awarded to computer-science focused programs serving youth with disabilities and/or Hispanic/Latino(a) youth to support collaborations and the implementation of exemplary practices for engaging underrepresented youth.
Resources on research based strategies, current education and employment statistics, links to relevant projects and programs, exemplary practices, archived webinars and more are made available by the CSCP to strengthen the capacity of existing computer science-focused projects serving underrepresented youth.
